corrosion report
corrosion report
PROJECT TYPE
Art magazine development and design.
BRIEF
For Dissolve Magazine, I was to conceptualize and fully execute the first installment of Corrosion Report, a periodical exposition about what’s emerging in the youth urban creative scene in California and beyond.
OBJECTIVES
Create an in-depth periodical art book that captures and displays the raw talent and grit of the featured roster of artists while appealing to the target audience.
Showcase not only the various artists’ works, but also highlight the mental journey behind their works and put the process on equal footing with the works themselves.
SOLUTION
After curating the roster of creatives, I developed a consistent branding style to use throughout the magazine that resonated aesthetically with the works of the featured artists. Prioritizing flow and visual intrigue, I implemented various combinations of spreads containing varying degrees of text, imagery, and ornamentation.
I conducted interviews, commissioned original pieces, and managed the construction of the printed magazine from start to finish. I planned out the order of artists to appear to generate a natural flow going from medium to medium and genre to genre without creating repetition.
